The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is one holiday tradition that really floats our boat!
The cherished celebration is returning for its 96th edition this year with 16 giant character balloons, 28 floats, 12 marching bands, star-studded performances and appearances, the Radio City Rockettes and, of course, Santa Claus.
“Since its first march in 1924 and through the decades, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has served to bring joy to the millions who gather nationwide each year to experience it with friends and family,” Will Coss, executive producer of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said in a statement. “This November, as we once again set the stage for the start of the holiday season, we are thrilled to showcase another spectacle full of magic and wonder that will help create everlasting memories with loved ones during this special time of year.”

The live spectacle begins at 9 a.m. in all time zones. This means viewers on the West Coast won't have to wake up too early on Turkey Day to watch the festivities.

Which Broadway shows are performing at the 2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
Lea Michele and the cast of Broadway’s Funny Girl will kick off the parade. Viewers can also look forward to performances from A Beautiful Noise, Some Like It Hot and Disney’s The Lion King. In addition to Broadway performances, the iconic Radio City Rockettes will be back for the annual holiday celebration.

Twelve bands from around the country and Mexico will be marching down the streets of New York City: Benedict College Marching Tiger Band of Distinction from Columbia, South Carolina; Bourbon County H.S. Marching Colonels from Paris, Kentucky; Carmel H.S. Marching Greyhounds from Carmel, Indiana; Clovis North Educational Center Bronco Band from Fresno, California; Delfines Marching Band from Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico; Macy's Great American Marching Band from Birdsboro, Pennsylvania; NYPD Marching Band from New York; Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble from Tarpon Springs, Florida; the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band from Brookings, South Dakota; the Queer Big Apple Corps from New York; University of Missouri's Marching Mizzou from Columbia, Missouri and Vandegrift H.S. Where does the 2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade start?
The parade officially kicks off at West 77th Street and Central Park West in NYC. There are 2.5 miles of public viewing along the route, which begins on the Upper West Side and ends in Midtown.
What is the 2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route?
The procession will travel from Central Park West to Columbus Circle. It will then turn onto Central Park South and march down 6th Avenue/Avenue of the Americas. The parade will make its final turn at 34th Street and head west, where it will end at 7th Avenue in front of Macy’s Herald Square.
