I wear it year-round.

Here’s the deal with my closet: It’s simply too full (yes, I am in the midst of a wardrobe refresh and will be donating a good chunk of my pieces before next season). Given its fullness, it’s clear that I have a lot of things, but as I Marie Kondo my closet, I’ve realized that I reach for the same pieces over and over again. In fact, some things have gone unworn for two years now — so I’m saying bye-bye. But the styles I wear the most and will, thus, be keeping? My basics, especially this Hanes cami I swear by.

Basics are good in that they’re exactly that: basic. They’re unfussy, uncomplicated, and simple to style, which is why I wear mine all the time. But if I had to pick the one piece that gets the most mileage, without a shadow of a doubt it would be a simple tank top. But not just any ol’ tank top — one that has an air of luxeness to it but is still comfy and doesn’t break the bank, like the aforementioned Hanes find that’s just $8 right now. No, that’s not a typo, and yes, you need to add it to your cart right now. I’m snagging a few more, too!

A simple white tank top is the basis of every good outfit. It’s a no-brainer for the summer months — you know, those days when it’s simply too hot to cover up — but it’s just as much a fall and winter layering staple. No matter the season, a fitted, flattering tank is the one item I don’t pack away for the simple fact that it's a year-round must that can be worn on its own in spring and summer and eventually layered underneath everything during fall and winter.

But, not all white tank tops are created equally, and Hanes, an iconic brand known for its supremely soft and comfy basics, has one of the best. The stretch cotton cami that I swear by is made from a cotton-spandex blend — 95 percent cotton with 5 percent spandex for just the right amount of give — and features an elegant scoop neck, thin, adjustable straps and a built-in bra that provides support and coverage. Most other tanks might offer the former, but few have the latter (straps that can be adjusted and sewn-in support), only further adding to its appeal.

It’s also incredibly flattering, with a fitted silhouette that looks great tucked in — or out. It’s also the perfect weight thanks to the material, and is therefore not see-through at all, which I know can be a point of frustration with others. While I repeat-wear the white one, as it offers the most versatility, I’ll be stocking up on other colors while they’re majorly reduced ahead of Amazon’s October Prime Day, including a classic black and cool gray.

Most styles are available in S to XXL, but some more in-demand options, like the classic white, have limited sizes left in stock. And at these prices, sizes are sure to go even quicker, so make sure to snag yours sooner than later. Trust me: You’ll wear it again — and again, just like me.
