Here are the lyrics to Alan Jackson's "Chattahoochee" — to get you ready for the 2018 ACM Awards

As part of ACM Flashbacks at the 2018 ACM Awards, Alan Jackson is performing his song "Chattahoochee" with Jon Pardi. Here are the lyrics to Jackson's hit song.

This Sunday, April 15th, get ready to party with the hottest country stars at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards hosted by Reba McEntire.

Chris Stapleton and Thomas Rhett are entering the 2018 ACM Awards with the most nominations — Stapleton has eight while Rhett has six — while Keith Urban, songwriter Shane McAnally, Maren Morris, and Miranda Lambert have each scored a handful of nominations in the evening’s hottest categories. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Little Big Town, Kenny Chesney, and many others are set to perform at the show.

But while the 2018 ACM Awards ceremony is honoring the biggest songs and artists in country today, the ACM Awards are also looking back this year. For the first time ever, the awards show will be featuring “ACM Flashbacks,” which honor the country artists or groups for their contributions to country music or songs of a particular year with a special performance.

This year, the ACM Awards are honoring three hits from 1993: “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” by Toby Keith, “Does He Love You” by Reba McEntire, and “Chattahoochee” by Alan Jackson. Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson will join Keith and McEntire for their performances, respectively, while Jon Pardi will duet with Jackson.

While “Chattahoochee” is certainly one of the catchiest odes to a body of water, it’s been a little while since we last heard Jackson’s hit. Reminisce about the glory days on the Chattahoochee before Sunday performance with these lyrics, per genius.com:

Verse 1

Well, way down yonder on the Chattahoochee / It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie / We laid rubber on the Georgia asphalt / We got a little crazy but we never got caught

Hook 1

Down by the river on a Friday night / A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight / Talkin' 'bout cars and dreamin' about women / Never had a plan just a livin' for the minute

Hook 2

Yeah, way down yonder on the Chattahoochee / Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me / But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was / A lot about livin' and a little 'bout love

Verse 2

Well, we fogged up the windows in my old Chevy / I was willin' but she wasn't ready / So a settled for a burger and a grape snow cone / I dropped her off early but I didn't go home

Hook 1

Down by the river on a Friday night / A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight / Talkin' 'bout cars and dreamin' about women / Never had a plan just a livin' for the minute

Hook 2

Yeah, way down yonder on the Chattahoochee / Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me / But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was / A lot about livin' and a little about love

Verse 1 (again)

Well way down yonder on the Chattahoochee / It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie / We laid rubber on the Georgia asphalt / We got a little crazy but we never got caught

Verse 2 (again)

Well we fogged up the windows in my old Chevy / I was willin' but she wasn't ready / So a settled for a burger and a grape snow cone / I dropped her off early but I didn't go home

Hook 1

Down by the river on a Friday night / A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight / Talkin' 'bout cars and dreamin' about women / Never had a plan just a livin' for the minute

Hook 2

Yeah way down yonder on the Chattahoochee / Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me / But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was / A lot about livin' and a little about love / A lot about livin' and a little about love / Yeah he / That's right
