The St. Regis Punta Mita is celebrating its 15th birthday with a massive $45 million renovation. The luxury property, nestled on 22 acres on the spectacular Riviera Nayarit, just debuted a brand new look and many enhancements that will elevate the guest experience in one of the most luxurious destinations in Mexico.

"We are honored to redefine the pinnacle of luxury in Riviera Nayarit as the St. Regis Punta Mita steps into its next chapter," Hugo Desenzani, area managing director of luxury at St. Regis Punta Mita, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. "With a timeless design that blends traditional elegance with modern charm, coupled with our commitment to offering distinguished service and unparalleled experiences, our comprehensive transformation will undoubtedly leave a lasting effect on luxury hospitality in Mexico."

The property partnered with Mexican design studio B-Huber (also behind Baja's Paradero Todos Santos), which took design cues from the destination's stunning natural landscapes and rich history and infused it with chic Mediterranean references. The result is a sophisticated, soothing version of understated luxury, featuring natural materials such as travertine marble, blown glass, clay,  brass, and wood.

The resort's 120 guest rooms and suites are reimagined as haciendas with features like arched patios, boldly hued tiles, handmade furnishings, and Mexican artwork. The beachfront villas that span one to three bedrooms now boast redesigned terraces with private pools and hot tubs, while on the inside, guests enjoy newly reimagined living room spaces. Design enthusiasts should check out the Presidential Villa. It showcases design and art pieces from some of Mexico's most prominent contemporary artists and furniture makers, all of which are available for purchase.

Last year, The St. Regis appointed a new executive chef, Pablo Arias. He joined the resort from the brand's outpost in Aspen and completely relaunched the culinary program in Punta Mita, which now includes several new food and beverage concepts.

The property's oceanfront restaurant, Mita Mary, highlights fresh seafood and local ingredients (don't miss the soft shell crab ravioli steamed in banana leaf) in an elegant dining room set against panoramic views of the Pacific. Another beachfront eatery, Sakana, is located by the adults-only pool and offers Nikkei-inspired dishes, while the fine dining Carolina celebrates modern Mexican cuisine.

The new additions to the spa include a luxe couples' suite with a private plunge pool and an outdoor shower, and a Temazcal, a sweat lodge rooted in Mayan purification rituals.

The property also reimagined its pool deck by adding a stunning dual-level infinity pool with a bar for adults and a three-tier pool with several waterfall features and in-water lounge chairs geared toward families.

“Our top-to-bottom transformation takes our beloved resort to new heights, further amplified by extraordinary experiences celebrating the best of Mexico’s rich cultural heritage, from transformative wellness offerings including a Shaman-led journey in a traditional Temazcal, to gastronomic innovation throughout the resort’s new and acclaimed restaurants, and far more,” Francisco Castrejon, the property’s hotel manager told T+L.
