A total solar eclipse is traversing a large swatch of the United States on April 8, and if you don’t happen to already live in the path of totality, now is the perfect time to plan an eclipse getaway. And Cape Arundel Inn & Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, is not just the ideal spot to see it, but also still has plenty of rooms available for you to choose from.

The luxury inn sits within the region of 95 percent totality, meaning the sun will be almost entirely covered by the moon for several minutes on eclipse day. And it’s celebrating this celestial event with both special programming and an eclipse package.

On eclipse day, the hotel will invite all guests to gather on its expansive front lawn from 2 p.m. onward to watch the celestial event — the eclipse will end over the area at about 4:40 p.m. The hotel will provide the all-important protective eyewear for all guests, themed cocktails and canapés to nibble on, and even a guided sound bath and meditation to make the experience feel all the more attuned to the stars above.

Beyond the event, the hotel is also offering an eclipse package, which includes a 15 percent room discount, a complimentary early check-in, access to the party, welcome amenities like a bottle of wine, and a branded journal for the wellness session. To take advantage of the package, guests must book a minimum two-night stay between April 7 and April 10.

Though guests may want to stay even longer, as the hotel offers all the right touches for an idyllic spring getaway in the Pine Tree State. That includes a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean out every window, charming rooms filled with New England-style furnishings like four-poster beds and linen chairs, and marvelous regional dining at its restaurant, Ocean, which also offers a three-, four-, or five-course prix-fixe menu along with a chef’s wine pairing.

Guests can always pair their eclipse wellness with more time at the hotel’s winter spa pop-up, which is at its Clubhouse Lounge, including an array of massages and facials. And while, yes, the inn still has space now, those rooms are not expected to last long, so make your reservations at capearundelinn.com.
