These Luxurious New Treehouses in N.Y. Afford Breathtaking Views of the Catskills

Luxury treehouses aren’t exactly a new concept, but that hasn’t stopped the Chatwal Lodge from branching out into sky-high accommodation.

The all-inclusive resort, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, just opened three new treehouses on its grounds in White Lake, New York. Located in a former 18,000-acre wildlife reserve called Chapin Estate, the main lodge includes 11 boutique-inspired rooms and suites with breathtaking views of the Catskills and the nearby Toronto Reservoir. The new treehouses aim to provide travelers with more privacy and even better views.

“These distinctive, secluded accommodations bring a new standard of immersive luxury to guests, marking a new beginning for our property while still honoring the fascinating history of The Chapin Estate,” Aaron Alexandar, general manager at The Chatwal Lodge, said in a statement.

The elevated trio hovers 15 feet above ground, allowing guests to relax among the treetops. Designed by Hyatt’s design services team, the elegant, minimalistic structures are covered with pale wood panels that are contrasted by dark rooves and window sills. Measuring 1,300 square feet, each treehouse has a generous interior with a light-filled living room and space for up to four guests. (There is a king-sized bedroom on the main level and a loft with a queen-sized bed.) In addition, the treehouses are equipped with covered balconies and exterior decks with fire pits to help you unwind.

The luxurious living quarters are fitted with oversized windows that afford dramatic views of the surrounding woodland. The cozy yet sophisticated decor combines sleek, custom furniture with “found pieces” like petrified wood and mango-root tables. The space also showcases upscale touches, such as Italian fixtures, cherry wood vanities, and marble countertops.

In terms of dining, farm-to-table cuisine can be enjoyed in the lodge’s restaurant or dishes can be delivered directly to the treehouse via room service. Each treehouse also has a Nespresso coffee machine, so you can make your cup of Joe in peace.

The resort offers a host of outdoor activities, too. Guests can partake in fly fishing, forest bathing, or snowshoeing, for instance. Alternatively, you can head to the recreation center for shuffleboard or duckpin bowling. The lodge also says guests will receive “personalized surprises,” but won’t give anything away before your stay.

To top it off, a pool and spa concept is expected to open at The Chatwal Lodge sometime this year. Sounds like a trip to the Catskills is in order.

Rates for the Treehouses start at $2,300. Visit the resort’s website for more details.
