A romance so fast it’ll give you whiplash. Lukas Gage and Chris Appleton were briefly the talk of Hollywood, going from fling to ring in record time (and on The Kardashians to boot). And we’re still learning about their relationship’s ups and downs.

Gage, 28, is best known for his breakout roles in The White Lotus, You, and Euphoria. He’s also the actor whose Zoom audition went viral after the director was heard insulting his apartment. Appleton, 40, is a celebrity hairstylist whose clients include Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian. The pair confirmed their relationship just a few weeks after Gage revealed some very special Valentine’s Day plans with an unnamed romantic interest in an interview with Glamour in February 2023.

At that point the couple seemed very in love and ready to share that love with the public. Not so much anymore. Here’s a timeline detailing everything we know about their relationship.

February 20, 2023: Gage and Appleton spark dating rumors after they each share photos of themselves vacationing together in Mexico. On Gage’s now deleted post, Appleton comments: “Stud 😍.”

March 7, 2023: Before confirming their relationship status publicly, the couple make their red-carpet debut at the Vanity Fair and TikTok pre-Oscar Young Hollywood event.

March 15, 2023: Appleton confirms his relationship with Gage during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “Anyone in your life we should know about?” Barrymore said.

“Actually, yeah,” he says. “Listen, I’m very happy. Very much in love, and I feel very grateful to be able to share my time with someone very special. Love is a really special thing, and I think meeting someone you connect with is really, really special, so….”

“And you are such an amazing human being,” Barrymore replies. “I’m sorry, but you are like the world’s great catch…. I can’t think of anyone who deserves happiness more. Is there a photo of you guys? Look at you guys, and his name is Lukas Gage.” See the clip here:

March 28, 2023: Gage gushes about his relationship with Appleton during an interview for Today. “I feel very happy, very lucky, and very much in love,” Gage says. “He’s a good-looking man. Something about being in London. I got a taste of the Brits and couldn’t help myself.” See the interview here:

April 5, 2023: Just weeks after they announced the relationship, a source close to the pair confirms to E! News that the two men are engaged.

April 22, 2023: Gage and Appleton marry in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony officiated by none other than Kim Kardashian. The reality star and mogul also arranged for a very special surprise: a performance by Shania Twain, one of the couple’s favorite artists, for their first dance. All of this is documented and later broadcast in an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians.

November 10, 2023: After just six months of marriage, the couple splits. Appleton cites November 10 as the day of separation when filing divorce papers in Los Angeles, which is revealed a few days later. The documents cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. According to People, the pair had a “post-nup.”

March 19, 2024: During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen presses Gage about the relationship. Gage appears unbothered, readily acknowledges the whirlwind nature of the romance, and almost laughs it off, though he doesn’t seem to look back all too fondly. Especially at his hair during the time period, which he said, after Appleton’s influence, “never looked worse.”

“I had a manic episode for six months,” Gage tells Cohen by way of explanation. “What happened to me? I don’t know literally what went through my head, but we live and we learn.” He also says the fur coats they wore during the ceremony were not his idea and apologizes to Twain for “wasting her time.” “‘You’re Still the One’ after like three weeks? That was unhinged.”

When Cohen cites rumors of cheating, Gage says, “There was no cheating. Oh God, Andy, there’s a three-letter thing that I signed,” which Cohen translates as an NDA, or nondisclosure agreement.

Chalking it all up to “mania,” Gage accepts responsibility for making possibly rash decisions. “That’s kind of how I roll. I’m a little impulsive. That was probably one of the most unhinged things I’ve ever done in my life, and I’ll probably have six marriages.”
