Lucy Hale just opened up about her sobriety journey in a new Instagram post.

The post featured a snapshot showing that the actress has been sober for two years, along with a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a photo of Lucy’s back as she walks next to water.

“This continues to be the greatest gift I’ve given myself,” the Pretty Little Liars alum wrote in the caption. “I remain so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joys, and self realizations. To be able to show up as myself and to be greeted with such warmth and acceptance is something I do not take for granted ♥️.”

The 34-year-old then shared how much she’s learned on her journey. “The interactions, conversations, and moments of vulnerability from people I know, people I used to know, from people I’ve hurt, from people who’ve hurt me, from strangers and even people on the internet have given my life so much color and meaning,” she said. “Those experiences have been my favorite takeaway from this last year. To every person I have connected with…thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The Truth or Dare actress concluded her post with an inspirational message for others who might be dealing with addiction. “If you are struggling, please know you are not alone and that you do not have to trek this path alone,” she said. “There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us. My only advice is to remain open hearted, curious, and to find the people who see and support you. It does get better. Take it moment by moment ✨.”

People cheered her on in the comments, including plenty of famous friends. “So proud of you sis!!” said Demi Lovato. “Love u so much Lulu 🥹 PROUD OF U ❤️❤️❤️,” wrote Colton Haynes.

This isn’t the first time Lucy has spoken about her sobriety. In early 2023, she talked about being a “textbook binge drinker” on the The Diary of a CEO podcast.

"I just held on to that belief that the real Lucy came out when she was drinking," she said. "It also quieted my mind… my brain just doesn't shut off and it's exhausting. I was a textbook binge drinker, blackout, wouldn't remember what I did or what I said, which is scary."

The Which Brings Me To You star also said that she struggled with alcohol since she first started drinking at age 14.

"I was willing to go to this crazy dark place every time," she said. "Of course, I tried to be a moderate drinker, just having two. I have an allergy to alcohol. I cannot drink. I view it as an allergy; My brain doesn't work the same way as someone who can just have a glass of wine. It always wants more. It's craving that feeling."

In November 2023, Lucy also discussed her sobriety on the Call Her Daddy podcast, saying that drinking “fueled” her experience with disordered eating, too. "I think the eating disorder fueled the alcoholism, and they kind of fueled each other," she shared.

The Puppy Love actress also opened up about her difficulty getting sober. “I had tried so many different things: rehab, out-patient, in-patient, trauma center, therapy, medication, you name it," she said.

Lucy said she finally got sober in 2021, and that being forced to stay home when she had COVID-19 helped. "Without having COVID, I might not have gotten sober or committed to it," she said.

Lucy also shared that "being sober is 100% the best thing I've ever done for myself, but doesn't mean it's easy."

Congrats on two years, Lucy!
