Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale has no time for internet trolls who body shame. On Friday, a troll tweeted some body-shaming nonsense at her: “No straight men are signing off on that anorexic look. That’s for gay guys and fashionistas. We want you to please eat a hamburger.” Obviously, there’s a lot wrong with that comment. We don’t even know where to begin. The comment trivializes eating disorders and perpetuates the idea that women only exist to be viewed by men. Which is definitely not okay.

Lucy Hale went after this troll, and shut him down with the truth

Too often, people make ignorant and hurtful comments without recognizing or caring about the hurt it will cause. Being flippant about an eating disorder is disrespectful, insensitive, and downright gross. It was very brave of Hale to post about her struggles with an eating disorder i n order to shut this guy down. Speaking out against anonymous bullies on the internet can be challenging and scary. The guy tred to brush it off with by replying “Neat,” but Hale was not having any of that, either.

It was also great to see some of her fans call this guy out, too.

No one should be subjected to body-shaming posts. Especially when they reinforce toxic stereotypes about sexual orientation on top of sexism. We’re glad that actresses like Lucy Hale are speaking out against these body-shamers and calling out the internet bullies. Hopefully, it makes at least one person rethink posting awful sexist body-shaming comments. We can only hope.
