Lucy Hale Debuts Tattoo of Her Grandmother's Handwriting

"Our Grammy was our favorite person and now she’s even more a part of us."

Lucy Hale isn’t a stranger to tattoos; she’s got a whole bunch (nearly ten!) and most of them have some sort of meaning to her. Her latest ink, however, may be the most meaningful of all.

Lucy shared a photo on Instagram of herself and her sister Maggie displaying some fresh body art on their forearms that reads “I love you” in cursive handwriting. The new tattoos are adorable and delicate, and they have a story behind them too.

“Nothing says sisterly bonding more than permanently tattooing your body,” Lucy explained in the caption. “After years of wanting our grandmother’s writing, we did it! Our Grammy was our favorite person & now she’s even more a part of us. Also, my sister is a badass who raises two kids, teaches combat classes AND goes on tattoo runs with her baby sister.” No, YOU’RE crying!

Of course, tattoos aren’t exactly a walk in the park. “Also, ouch. This one hurt,” Lucy wrote. (Warning: The forearm can be a painful place to get inked.)

As we previously stated, Lucy isn’t a tattoo newbie. Her most recent design was a cute little elephant in honor of her trip to Cambodia. She’s also got a lightbulb on her arm, and counts a sun, some small quotes, and the evil eye among her body art collection. Lucy and her Pretty Little Liars castmates even tattooed their “shh” fingers to commemorate the show’s final season.

If you’ve been thinking of taking the plunge and getting tattooed yourself, Lucy is definitely an inspiration — her ink is delicate, beautifully-designed, and each one carries a special symbol.
