Lucy Boynton brought ballet-inspired dressing to England while attending Chanel’s 2023 Metiers d’Art show.

While attending the occasion on Thomas Street in Manchester — which served as the show’s setting from its connections to the textile industry and Coco Chanel’s discovery of tweed — Boynton slipped on a pair of ivory grosgrain flats. The “Politician” star’s ballet style included a flat base with short heels and capped toes, topped by buckled Mar Jane straps.

Boynton’s preppy shoes — although stained by the city’s inclement weather — were complete with Chanel’s signature double-C logos on each toe, bringing them a chic finish. The pair also smoothly streamlined her attire for the occasion: a pair of striped white tights with sheer paneling, layered beneath a black-and-white printed dress with white cuffs, a layered collar and sparkling pink crystal button closures.

Gleaming statement earrings and a quilted black vanity-style handbag with gold chain hardware brought a glitzy finish to Boynton’s ensemble. While mixing patterns with a core neutral palette, the “Ipcress File” star’s preppy attire also leaned into the trend of “balletcore” aesthetics inspired by ballerinas — which has led to the popularity of ballet flats throughout 2023.

The practical, lightweight shoe style has been cast in an array of silhouettes from numerous labels; it’s also a key style for Chanel, which releases variations of embellished, ankle-strapped and cap-toed flats in a wide range of textures, colors and finishes that coordinate with its various collections each year.

Boynton was part of a star-studded front row for Chanel’s Metiers d’Art 2023 show, which also included Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton and Hugh Grant, among others. During the occasion, Virginie Viard’s new tweed separates, coats and dresses were seen in a rainbow of colors — including red, blue, purple, yellow and green. For a feminine flair finish, all were mixed with color-coordinated Chanel jewelry and handbags, as well as an assortment of flats and low-heeled sandals embellished with bows, pearls and gold medallion charms.
