We're no psychics, but we can sense that our future is looking pretty bright. In fact, we're getting the vibe that it'll consist of brand-new romances, idyllic landscapes, and a ton of Western fun!

We should probably be more clear: We're talking about a new and upcoming Netflix series, Ransom Canyon!

If you're intrigued now, just you wait. Netflix announced back in December of 2023 that they ordered 10 episodes for a pilot season of Ransom Canyon—starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly.

Yep! Our favorite Friday Night Lights star (Kelly) is crossing paths with the heart-throb from Safe Haven (Duhamel)!

The show is described to be a family drama at its core, with plenty of romance and love stories to go around—specifically with our two leads. It'll take place in Texas Hill Country, where we'll meet not one, not two, but *three* Western-raised families. If you're a fan of shows based on books, you'll be happy to know that this new show is adapted from the Ransom Canyon book series by bestselling author Jodi Thomas.

Duhamel will take the role of Staten Kirkland, a rugged ranch owner with a pretty stern personality. If there's one thing he'll do, it's protect the name of Double K Ranch! Kelly will play Quinn, an easy-going gal who never wants to overstep. Realizing her brief life in New York City wasn't a fit, she comes back to Texas to figure herself out.

The premise of this show may sound a bit familiar to both of our Yellowstone and Virgin River fans, and that's because it's meant to!

Jinny Howe, the head of drama over at Netflix, explained to Deadline what viewers can expect.

"It’s a multi-generational family show set on a ranch, and we say it’s Virgin River meets Yellowstone," Howe said. "We think that it’s going to deliver on all the romance and again it will be a really beautiful vista and setting, very escapist."

Ransom Canyon is said to begin filming at some point in January 2024. In the meantime, watch these shows like Yellowstone and shows like Virgin River to keep you satisfied.
