That National Pizza Day (February 9) and Valentine’s Day (February 14) should be so close on the calendar makes perfect sense to us: both make sense in a season of love and passion. To mark the dual occasions, Los Angeles pizza restaurant PIZZANISTA! has teamed up with PETA and Joan Jett for a very special pizza.

Shaped in a (black) heart and sold in a heart-shaped box emblazoned with rocker and animal lover Joan Jett, the pizza is topped with vegan cheese from Miyoko’s Creamery, BE-Hive vegan pepperoni and bacon, Abbot’s Butcher vegan sausage, and a bunch of fresh veggies.

"Joan Jett has said that if there's anything she loves more than rock 'n' roll, it's animals, so this edgy vegan pizza is the perfect tribute," PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange noted in a statement. "L.A. romantics who want to avoid supporting the dirty deeds of the meat and dairy industries should celebrate with the PIZZANISTA! vegan pie."

The special pizza will be available from the downtown pizza joint through May. Pizza lovers who come to get it in person will find the shop has been covered in a colorful mural depicting the songstress, painted by artists Tait Roelofs, Alex Aranovich, and Elizabeth Ward. Merch inspired by the mural will also be for sale.

For each pizza sold, a $2 donation will be made to support PETA’s work with animals; existing members of PETA can get a 20 percent discount on the price of their pie.
