There is no shortage of wedding content out there to watch, especially when it comes to reality TV. So when a show comes along that puts a whole new spin on the genre–and places a focus on what food couples are serving at their wedding—you better believe we're in and ready to binge watch. That's why we're so excited about Say I Do, a Netflix show that dropped earlier this summer that you'll want to add to your queue immediately...just make sure you bring some tissues.

What is Say I Do?

The show follows real couples who have had to put off weddings and engagements for one reason or another and helps them pull off the surprise engagement—and wedding!—of their dreams in less than a week. It's made by the same creators who brought you Queer Eye, which means it's beautifully shot, well-designed, and will make you cry happy tears by the end of every episode.

Who is on it?

The show, of course, features eight couples in its first season who will be treated to the happiest days of their lives. Just like Queer Eye, this show also features a team of experts that help each groom, and then each couple, design their perfect proposal and wedding respectively. Interior designer Jeremiah Brent spruces up the venue, celebrity designer Thai Nguyen takes on the outfits, and chef Gabriele Bertaccini is tasked with making the menu for the big day.

"Sometimes it baffles me the power that food and wine, food in general, has in connecting people," Bertaccini told us of his role: "And to be able to use that skill to create a special day for that couple...and to really give the stories the importance and the respect that they deserve? That puts a big smile on my face."

What can I expect from the show?

Well, a lot of happy tears, but plenty of practical tips too. Whether you're planning a wedding of your own, looking for style or cooking tips, or just need a little inspiration for your everyday life, this show has it all and more.

"There is a universal message, and the message is that it's important to share our stories. It's important to tell the people that we love and that we trust about who we are," he said.

So what about the food?

We don't often get to see the food aspect of weddings, but this show is unique in that it shows food and cooking as an act of love and an important part of setting the tone for the wedding itself. For Bertaccini, food is very emotional and he said it was exciting to help the couples on the show, as well as his clients in real life, express their personalities and journeys through a delicious menu.

"I always remind them that when we come up with the menu, it has to represent both of their stories," he said. "It has to represent the traditions that they are bringing with them up to that point; marriage is coming together. And also it's an opportunity for them to create new traditions and to actually share that with the guests at the table."

"That's the secret sauce to a wedding menu," he continued. "It's bringing up the past and creating traditions of the future and bringing them together into one beautiful menu that you can share."

And no matter the food, it's the love behind it that truly counts.

"They would be like 'I have no idea if she wants a filet mignon or a grilled cheese!' but then it would go back to 'I just love her so much and I and just want this to be perfect for her,'" Bertaccini said of some of the grooms. "[The decisions are] fundamentally built on [the] strong love that they have for their significant other."

And what about season two?

Chances are once you finish the series, you're going to want more, but so far, Netflix hasn't announced any plans for another season just yet. We'll be sure to update this post if we hear anything though, and in the meantime, well, you can always rewatch season one again!
