'Love It Or List It' Is Actually Filmed in a Charming Southern Town

From Country Living

  • Love It Or List It follows homeowners who have to decide between moving to a new house, or staying in their renovated one.

  • The HGTV series takes place in a southern city that's actually reasonable to live in.

Love It Or List It has been a staple of our HGTV binge-watching for years. The series pits Hilary Farr and David Visentin against one another as they try to convince homeowners to stay in their renovated home, or sell it and move into a new build.

We tune in for a lot of reasons: David and Hilary’s bickering, for one. (Though don’t you dare call Hilary a bully, lest you want to deal with fans’ fury.) The second is to stalk all the enviable real estate, as well as get ideas for how to overhaul your space.

But with all the different monetary constraints that vary hilariously from couple to couple, it always makes us wonder where Love It Or List It is actually filmed. Unlike some of the other series that are set in Canada or the Bahamas, Love It Or List It actually takes place in a charming city you really could move to today.

That’s right, the series airs in Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina. According to a post on HGTV’s site, you must live in that area or within a 45-minute drive of the Triangle. The other consideration you need is to have a “reasonable renovation budget.” Does $100 count, or…?

In all seriousness, Zillow reported that the medium home value in Raleigh is around $283K while the median price of homes currently listed is around $339K. So if that seems reasonable for your family, then maybe it's time to hit up up David and Hilary.
