'Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu Break Up
Meeting in paradise wasn't enough for these two.
Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, the winners of the eighth season of Love Island, have officially broken up.
Sanclimenti confirmed the news on social media, yesterday, June 29, writing, "@ekinsuofficial & I are no longer together," on his Instagram Story. "I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best."
He further called on his fans and followers to be respectful toward him and his ex, adding, "I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time. I will continue to support Ekin in anyway [sic] possible."
The pair were together for nearly a year—and were photographed together just a few days prior to the news of the separation at the UK premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny—but Sanclimenti has been open in the past about their relationship struggles.
"Me and Ekin-Su had our struggles due to our public positions and we still have them sometimes," the reality tv personality told The Sun just this month. "If there's something that I would change or would have done differently [with Ekin-Su in the villa], maybe I would have taken things a bit more slowly."
The two were paired up together on their season before separating, eventually reconnecting and taking home the £50,000 prize. Shortly after, according to the publication, Cülcüloğlu said that life together was "smooth sailing" outside of the Spanish villa—despite rumors that Sanclimenti had cheated on her.
