'Love Is Blind' Stars Rally Around Kwame After Receiving Racist Hate Online

The Netflix show's star shared the racist messages he received upon the new season's premiere.

Love is Blind season four star Kwame Appiah is calling out fans for their hateful, racist messages.

Appiah is one of the most beloved cast members of the Netflix show's current season. Not only was he one of the top choices among the women on the show, he also won over fans with his vulnerability and positive energy. But sadly, some fans used the drama from his love triangle pre-engagement as an excuse to send racist vitriol.

In an Instagram post shared on March 26, Appiah made a video sharing one of the horrific racist messages he received upon the season's premiere.

Appiah began his video pointing out that with a big show like Love is Blind, there are a lot of opinions on his actions.

"Opinions are warranted. Opinions are…they're a given, right? People will come out with their opinions and that's okay. Opinions on me? They're okay. But there's definitely a level that should not be breached and that's when the opinions that you have go towards deeper levels of hate, racism, or bigotry," he explained.

He continued, "I think that crosses a line that shouldn't be. And it's disgusting that people think that it is okay to do this and hide it behind the agenda of just caring about a TV show. I'm human. I make mistakes, just like you make mistakes. Wrapping that around in bigotry and hate and pushing that agenda is never going to be okay. Cut it out."

Micah Lussier, who was one of Appiah's love interests on the show, asked fans to not send hateful messages to him in an Instagram Story.

"Thank you all for the overwhelming positive support. However, threats, insults, bigotry, and just vile comments are entirely inappropriate," she wrote. "We are real people, doing the best that we can just like you, and we are not always perfect but we learn from these moments and move forward to be better in the future."

She added, "If you feel the urge to say something like this, please take a minute to reflect on what you are doing, what your intentions are. If you find that you are just trying to hurt someone and not to help them be better, then please try to remove the cruelty and malice in your heart before you speak."

Love is Blind star Zack Goytowski also shared Appiah's Instagram video, asking fans to "please send some love to the men and women of color on our show."

"There are people out there who will use anything as a pretext to spread hate. But really they just have an issue with mixed [race] couples," he wrote. "[Kwame] is an amazing man: Humble, accomplished and he has a huge ❤️."
