  • The creators of Love Is Blind are back with a new reality show, The Ultimatum.

  • A new trailer was released on Tuesday, and it looked intense.

  • The first eight episodes of the dating show will premiere on Netflix on April 6th.

Netflix's newest reality series, The Ultimatum, was first announced following the Love Is Blind season 2 reunion. With the release of the highly-anticipated show around the corner, more details are slowly being revealed.

This week, a new trailer was released along with the names of 12 cast members.

In case you need a refresher, The Ultimatum was developed by the creators of LIB. So, there's a notable amount of expectations in the air. The show will follow six couples that have considered marriage. However, one person in the relationship is ready to get married while the other isn't entirely willing to commit. Hence, the ultimatum: either get married or move on for good.

But if you thought this was going to be your average relationship counseling TV show, there's a major twist. Over the course of eight weeks, each contestant will choose a new potential partner from another couple to figure out whether they want to stay with their old partner and get married or leave them for someone else.

Now I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a recipe for a drama. As the season goes on, the contestants will be able to pick new partners that they’ll live with for three weeks. And by the end of the experiment, they'll have to make a decision.

What do the trailers reveal?

In the most recent trailer, fans get a better glimpse into how the rules affect the couples. The 2-minute clip opens with one of the women telling her partner, "I love you to death but I just cannot wait any longer. That is why I’m giving this ultimatum.” Another off-screen voice is heard saying, "I think it’s natural to wonder what it would be like to be in a different relationship."

The three-week trial marriages with new partners also seem to lead to arguments and cheating speculations. During a scene where the group is at dinner one of the cast members cries that her partner is "falling for someone else" while another couple gets into a heated argument that results in one person storming off.

The first trailer that was posted in early March hints that many of them begin to question whether or not giving their partners an ultimatum brought more negatives than positives into their dynamics. Meanwhile, other contestants start to learn more about their needs in a relationship.

Your favorite It couple is back for hosting duties. Nick and Vanessa Lachey will be guiding all 12 people throughout their journey. In the trailer, they warn the couples by suggesting that they, "If you’re not sure you want to marry your partner, the risk is that they’re going to find someone else who is."

The suspense is a killer.

It's already been renewed for season 2.

If you're already sold on watching, you'll be happy to know that the show has already been renewed for a second season. While there's isn't any information on casting, filming, or a premiere date yet, it is known that there will be a mostly female, all-queer cast, per Variety. Netflix also shared a tweet featuring a few familiar faces to make the announcement.

For now, you can ride the wave of season 1 and stay tuned for more details as they come.
