Louisville Zoo Snow Leopard's Love of Service Dog Is Downright Precious

It’s a classic interspecies love story. When a snow leopard at the Louisville Zoo spotted a guest’s service dog outside his enclosure, he couldn’t help but be intrigued. He became so interested in the dog that he kept rubbing his face on the glass in front of the dog. It looked like he wanted to play!

It’s not every day that a leopard and dog get to interact with each other. But this interaction was, sadly enough for the leopard, pretty one-sided. It didn’t stop him from trying!

The service dog was working, so he needed to stay focused on his handler. Even in the wake of a giant snow leopard, Rico the service dog remained cool, calm, and collected.

As the snow leopard continued rubbing himself on the glass, Rico just sat there hanging out. We guess even a snow leopard dancing in front of him couldn’t break his concentration. Good boy!

There’s not much the snow leopard gets to see aside from the human zoo guests, so we can only imagine his excitement when he saw another animal around his enclosure. He definitely looks playful!

In addition to rubbing his face on the glass, the snow leopard was also brushing his paw against the glass. It’s like he’s a big house cat, just trying to get out to play! It’s clear that the snow leopard loved this service dog and wanted to get out and meet him.

This video surely speaks to the great training that service dogs receive. There was literally a wild animal trying to paw his way out of his enclosure to get to Rico, and he remained entirely unphased. His training definitely took a while, but it pays off to ensure the safety of his handler.

Rico deserves all the treats he can get after this wild interaction!
