Louis XIII Cognac Showcases Rare Cask 42.1 in New York City, the First Time in 10 Years

For the third time in history and the first time in a decade, cellar master Baptiste Loiseau has revealed Louis XIII Cognac’s Rare Cask 42.1. The latest limited edition has been presented in grand global showcases with immersive events for connoisseurs held in key markets including Paris, Zurich, London, Dubai, Beverly Hills, Miami, Las Vegas, Kuala Lumpur and finally New York City.

The opening of the cask, said Louis XIII Cognac, is a momentous occasion, marking a milestone for the cask’s legacy and immense luxury. The decanters of the Rare Cask 42.1 are exceedingly limited with only 775 being made available worldwide.

As the Rare Cask 42.1 becomes available it is an occasion that has been observed with remarkable moments and by the glass tastings. In New York City, this means underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to the diverse talents flourishing in the city including the world of gastronomy and the performing arts. To take guests on a journey, Louis XIII tapped Michelin-acclaimed chef and co-owner of Clover Hill Charlie Mitchell and the Juilliard School creating “a captivating visual narrative that traces the enduring legacy of the iconic cognac.”

The bespoke, autumn-inspired dinner menu created by Mitchell was designed to elevate the Louis XIII cognac tasting experience. Guests, who included cognac enthusiasts and collectors, each savored a single pour of Louis XIII Cognac, a blend of eaux-de-vie sourced from the Grande Champagne region of Cognac, as part of the tasting experience in anticipation of the formal U.S. debut of Rare Cask 42.1.

Paying homage to the heritage of the house and revel in the distinct rarity of the Rare Cask 42.1 during the dinner, the Juilliard School Quartet performed alongside a performance by the Juilliard School Ballet, led by Flora Ferguson.

Guided by Loiseau, Louis XIII continues to “think a century ahead,” counting “each drop as a living legacy, each decanter a celebration of visionary minds and human hands that shape the future by making a mark on tomorrow, today.”
