Loudonville museum planning small-group tour to Egypt in 2025

The Cleo Redd Fisher Museum in Loudonville is organizing a small-group tour to Egypt.

The tour is slated for March 30-April 6, 2025, and will take travelers to Cairo, Giza, Luxor and the ancient cities of Memphis, Saqqara and Thebes. Among the highlights are visiting the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Step Pyramid, the Colossi of Memnon, Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens as well as a sunset cruise on the Nile River and the option to add a hot-air balloon ride over the desert.

Travelers will explore the tombs of King Tut, Ramesses VI, Queen Hatshepsut and nearly a dozen others. Stepping back into the modern day, the group will explore the Khan El-Khalili bazaar and Egypt’s local cuisine.

The tour is offered as part of the CRF Museum’s Heritage Travel series. According to the museum’s curator and travel adviser, the small group atmosphere has been a critical component of the museum’s tours.

“We’ve had an incredible number of repeat travelers, with all of them extolling the benefits of our limited small groups − unlike larger package tours where travelers are shoved on a bus with 50 strangers and only visit tourist restaurants and landmarks," Kenny Libben said. "Our goal is to allow our guests to get a more intimate experience and have opportunities to explore on their own.”

Libben said the museum has been quietly working on the tour for quite some time.

“We knew Egypt was going to be expensive, so we really worked hard to find a reliable tour operator at the best price we could offer," he said.

The result was partnering with Egypt’s highest rated tour operator, employing a professional Egyptologist to be the group’s private guide and managing to put together a package that competes with even the large group package rates. In addition to admission and transportation to all the included sites, the tour includes seven nights in five-star hotels as well as domestic airfare between Cairo and Luxor.

The tour does not include airfare as Libben noted “everyone has different preferences for airlines, economy versus business class, etc. so we let them handle their own flights, though we are certainly happy to help anyone book theirs if needed.”
