Just about everyone has had a tough time getting into the gym consistently over the past year—but if you're really resourceful, you can just make sure that you can take the gym with you wherever you go.

That's what happened when the MH crew caught up with Lou Ferrigno Jr., who you might recognize from the CW's Stargirl or CBS' S.W.A.T. (and yes—his dad is that Lou Ferrigno, the legendary bodybuilder who competed with Arnold in the '70s and played the Incredible Hulk on TV in the '80s). Ferrigno Jr. showed up in his car for the workout, but he wasn't headed into a gym; instead, he was bringing the gym with him, in the trunk of his Lexus. When he popped the trunk, the rear was filled with enough gear to use to work up a "Ferrigno Fit"-level sweat.

All-in, the actor packed some adjustable dumbbells, a med ball, homemade parallettes, a BOSU ball, and resistance bands. "You can get it all done in the back of your car," he says.

But all the gear wasn't just taking up space in the car—Ferrigno's putting all the equipment to good use in a multi-faceted training session designed to be as efficient as possible.

"For my typical workout, balance is key," he says. He achieves this by staggering push and pull movements, with intermediary exercises like ab work in between. He's targeting opposing muscle groups, which allows him to take shorter rest periods as he works and recovers simultaneously."My main goal is muscle density, so quality of reps, not quantity," he says.

Ferrigno Jr.'s routine is a triple tri-set session that prioritizes good movement and discourages any wasted effort. That's by design—and he had a pretty good teacher. "My dad growing up always used to tell me 45 minutes, that's all you need," he says as he packs up his gear. "It's pay now, or pay later. Take care of your body; your body will take care of you."
