Lou Dallas Fall 2024 Ready-to-wear: Bringing Life to Deadstock Materials
Raffaella Hanley continued her DIY, sustainable ethos for Lou Dallas’ fall 2024 lineup, creating a collection that took inspiration from the large assortment of deadstock materials she sourced.
“It was a lot of fabrics and mixing them together,” Hanley said. “It’s like a mash-up. I feel like it’s just about layering a lot of different elements that might not at first work together and then it all just ends up singing in the end in this cohesive way.”

The collection embodied the designer’s kitschy and homespun design codes, with various styles created with multiple colors and textures from materials Hanley sourced from the internet and at Los Angeles’ Ragfinders.
While many of the pieces were a hodgepodge of fabrics, certain looks offered a clearer focus through a common color story or vibe. Take the collection’s finale dress — a lavender lace and corduroy corset paired with a metallic miniskirt accented with blue ruffles — which reflected a feminine vibe. Another standout style was a red floral dress accented with red lace detailing. Both looks showed the designer’s skill in matching deadstock fabrics to give the garment a feeling of newness.
While the fall collection showed the designer’s ability to transform deadstock fabrics into quirky looks that appeal to a particular customer, overall it lacked a sense of cohesion and refinement.
