In Los Angeles, a Tech Mogul’s Revamped Mansion Is Now up for Auction

Back in 2007, Farhad Mohit doled out $4.6 million for a sprawling hilltop property in the desirable Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. The serial tech entrepreneur—probably best known as co-founder of the consumer review website Bizrate and shopping search engine Shopzilla—subsequently worked with Roman James Design to demo and rebuild the 1990s residence, which rests on a nearly 6-acre parcel overlooking the downtown L.A. skyline and Pacific Ocean beyond.

Records show Mohit first tried to sell the revamped spread for a whopping $48 million in May 2020, before reducing the price to $38.5 million and offering it up for rent at $175,000 per month. Now he’s decided to auction off the place with no reserve in collaboration with Drew Fenton of Carolwood Estates, with the current high bid as of Sept. 11 at $20 million.
