Lorraine Bracco is always on the move.
Born in New York City, the Sopranos star actually started her career in France as a DJ and model. Fate then took her to Italy to work with the legendary director Lena Wertmuller. Next, it was off to Hollywood, where she earned an Oscar nomination in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. The late 90s brought Bracco back to the East Coast, where she helped revolutionize television in her role as Dr. Jennifer Melfi, Tony Soprano’s insightful and complex shrink. Since then, she’s shared her time between the US and Italy, doing TV and movie roles, and even writing a self-help book. She also stars in My Big Italian Adventure on HGTV.
All this is to say, Bracco is doesn’t like to stay in one place for too long—so quarantine has posed quite a challenge. But with the help of her family, their dog Bandit, and some fun finds, she’s done just fine. Below see some of Bracco’s quarantine favorites—great ideas you can borrow for bringing a little self-care (and fun) to the winter months ahead.
Apple Cider Vinegar Gummy Vitamins by Goli Nutrition
It’s no surprise that the author of the self-help book To The Fullest would be focusing on health in quarantine.
Many doctors say that eating less has tremendous benefits for overall wellness. Bracco finds these little gummies help. “ A couple of times a day, I pop them in,” she says of Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies. “It suppresses your appetite, I think that’s the big thing...It's like candy. Now at this point, I love it.”

Balance Grow Honey Citron and Ginger Tea
”I love lemon and I love ginger, so I drink it almost every night.” Bracco says of Balance Grow’s Honey Citron and Ginger Tea.
This simple mixture is ready to go with just a little hot or cold water, and it’s great for soothing a sore throat, warming up from the chilly weather, or just winding down after a long day. A smart winter staple.

Homeleo Mason Jar LED Solar Lights
The ethical answer to the antique idea of “fireflies in a jar,” these charming mason jars each contain a string of LED lights that create a dazzling effect. Best of all, their solar-powered lids help limit your energy consumption too, making it a clean, quaint and energy-efficient way to bring a little more light into your life.
Lorraine’s found a ton of fun ways to use Homeleo Mason Jar LED Solar Lights: “With different settings, you can have them blink or you can keep them steady. You can unwind them or keep them in the jar. You can do all kinds of fun things with them.”

UBeesize Selfie Ring Light
Not all of us get cast in play readings with Joy Behar, but as Zoom meetings are out primary mode of interaction these days, we all could use a little help getting camera-ready. That makes a ring light an “essential worker,” in our book.
Lorraine likes the UBeesize Selfie Ring Light, which is easy to use and customize. It’s got three different light tints and eleven levels of brightness, and it comes with an adjustable tripod and phone holder. Once you use one, it’s hard to go back.
Shop it: UBeesize Selfie Ring Light, $39 (was $47), amazon.com
Smitten Ice Cream
”Smitten Ice Cream is dangerous...” Bracco shares, and in the best way. This San Francisco–based company offers everything from pints to gift kits in a wide variety of flavors, made in their celebrated BRRR ice cream machine, and available online. Her favorite? “Earl grey with chocolate chips. It’s...out of this world.”
But if you wind up developing a sweet tooth from it, Bracco notes, “don’t blame me!”

BUG-A-SALT Black Camofly
“I live in the country. So there are bugs all over the place,” Bracco shares. Hence this handy piece of at-home artillery, which takes down mosquitoes. “It has a laser, and it shoots salt.” Brilliant and effective. And you’ll never be out of ammo, because you can reload with ordinary table salt.
The Bug-A-Salt Black Camofly, with its accuracy-assisting laser sight, could make a great gift for the skeeter-hater in the family. Bracco loves this handy piece of hardware, even if Bandit the dog has some reservations about it.
