Lorde, or Wednesday Addams? The Somber Dress Gets a Fashion Twist
Through a fashion lens, it’s pretty clear that Wednesday Addams—the fictional character from The Addams Family known for her general lack of emotions—has cultivated her signature look. Her somber black dress, always with a pointed white collar, never fails to stand the test of time, while her braided hair is identifiable as the TV family’s kooky reputation. But dare we call Wednesday a style icon to the stars, too? According to the singer Lorde’s latest look, such may just be the case.
Lorde, who attended the MusiCares Person of the Year event honoring Fleetwood Mac on Friday, wore a fetching Christian Dior dress that was majorly reminiscent of Wednesday’s uniform. The singer wore an embroidered black tulle dress with white silk collar from the label’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection. For a more approachable take on Wednesday’s style, though, its covered silhouette and black colorway was elevated with just enough sparkle and sheen. Proof that a fun and youthful look doesn’t always have to mean heaps of color. All-black wearers, rejoice.
