We Can't Get Over Lorde's Reaction To Eating The Spiciest Jalapeño Chicken Wings
I simply must ask: Is there anything Lorde can't do? After a short hiatus from the spotlight, she's back promoting her upcoming album Solar Power and releasing singles to give us a taste of what's to come. To speak more about her work past and present, Lorde stopped by the Hot Ones studio to eat spicy wings and the way she's totally unfazed by the spice level is so impressive.
Lorde spoke about her inspiration for Solar Power and said her inspiration was the color gold, specifically in reference to golden hour and the sun. She considers the project a "worship album" to the sun after all of the time she spent in nature recently. When biting in a wing doused in jalapeño sauce, she didn't flinch; rather, she complimented the flavor. "Nice flavor. I like it. I like it," she said. "In the pop star life I feel like you're not smashing wings very often."
She talked more of her food preferences while absolutely crushing her spicy wings and shared her favorite ice cream is cookies & cream and that she considers herself a cheese connoisseur (the "zanier" the better).
When asked about her onion ring review account, she emphasized all of the qualities a great onion ring has to have: a thick-cut onion, a crisp crust, and a battered topping rather than crumbed. Plus, with every bite the onion has to break instead of fall out of the crusty shell.
"Nothing worse than the threads. You don't want to get down with that. Makes a mockery of the institution," she said. Honestly? Preach.
