From Town & Country

While some members of the British royal family live their lives in the spotlight, others are less well-known. Once such example of a low-key Windsor Prince Michael of Kent's son Freddie.

Here's everything you need to know about Lord Frederick Windsor:

Lord Frederick Windsor is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

His Royal Highness Prince Michael is the Queen's first cousin, which makes Freddie the British monarch's first cousin once removed. He also grew up at Kensington Palace alongside his more distant cousins, Prince Harry and Prince William.

Freddie's mother was born Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz, but when she married Prince Michael in 1978, she earned the right to use her husband's title. His title does not grant her use of the name Princess Marie Christine-she could only use that if she had been born into the British royal family. (For the same reason the Duchess of Sussex could go by Princess Henry for example, but can not go by Princess Meghan.)

Freddie married Sophie Winkleman in 2009.

They have two daughters together, Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina (who goes to the same school as Prince George) and Isabella Alexandra May Windsor, who are both serving as bridesmaids in today's wedding.

Maud was born in 2013 in Los Angeles, where her parents lived at the time, but by the time Isabella was born, the family had moved back to London.

He's currently 49th in line to the throne.

Freddie is not a working royal, though he is seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the rest of the royal family from time to time, at major events such as the Queen's annual birthday parade, Trooping the Colour.
