DatingNews.com, which covers dating industry news, surveyed 3,000 singles to find out how many people want a traditional white picket fence lifestyle and the nationwide locations where “old-fashioned dreams” can still be achieved amidst modern society.

Of the 150 locations included, Delaware has three on the list.

Lewes ranks No. 35 for its historic buildings, museums and local history throughout the city. Aside from roots that date back to the early 1600s, the beaches and maritime activities found around the convergence of the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean make for a picturesque backdrop sure to fit anyone’s dreams. Lewes is also close to Cape Henlopen State Park, which offers plenty of hiking, biking and the exploring of wildlife and lighthouses.

Nestled in the “heart of the Mid-Atlantic,” Middletown’s suburban environment that is close to major cities like Philadelphia and Baltimore ranks No. 48. Community events like festivals and farmers markets are plentiful, and with a large population of families residing in the community, recreational activities and schools are easily accessible. Middletown’s historic downtown area features tree-lined streets, historic buildings, unique restaurants and small businesses perfect for checking out on a weekend stroll.

At No. 106, Hockessin appeals to those dreaming of rolling hills and a serene community in northern Delaware. The area's charming neighborhoods are known for elegant homes, tidy lawns and plenty of foliage for natural seasonal beauty. For those who enjoy gardening or want ample room to host in their backyard, Hockessin is a perfect fit, and the abundance of community events adds extra vibrance to the area.
