BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Looking for a getaway and wanting to enjoy the outdoors? Louisiana has a number of state parks that offer RV campsites and camping grounds. Spend a couple of days enjoying the great outdoors in the Pelican State.

Whether you are looking to hitch up your RV on-site or pitch your tent, Louisiana state parks offer several amenities for your stay. They also offer several outdoor recreational activities, including fishing, hiking, boating, paddling and picnicking.

Some of the state parks in the state even offer a chance for overnight visitors to enjoy a stay in one of their cabins.

Fontainbleau State Park

Fontainbleau State Park offers several activities including biking, boating, camping, paddling and fishing. The state park has 23 premium campsites and 103 improved campsites, 37 unimproved sites and two primitive group camping areas.

Grand Isle State Park

Grand Isle State Park features RV campsites that are just a short walk away from having beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico. The state park near the Gulf of Mexico has 14 beach tents and 49 premium sites. The beach tents are $18 per night plus tax, according to the website.

Fairview-Riverside State Park

You will be able to take advantage of “one of the most peaceful campgrounds in the state,” according to the website. Fairview-Riverside State Park sits near the Tchefunte River and offers several outdoor recreation amenities for your next adventure.

Chicot State Park

Chicot State Park features several campsites, a boat launch, dock, 400-foot pier and group camping area. According to its website, the state park also offers backcountry campsites, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bogue Chitto State Park

Overnight visitors at Bogue Chitto State Park can enjoy several accommodations, including RV and tent camping. The state park also provides an equestrian area campground and 81 premium locations.

Bayou Segnette State Park

Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego features boating, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, picnicking, and swimming in the wave pool. The state park also offers 98 premium locations for your next camping adventure.

Tickfaw State Park

According to its website, Tickfaw State Park has 30 improved and 20 unimproved sites. Visitors can enjoy night hiking or the Louisiana swamp’s nightlife on the porch of their vacation cabin.

Palmetto Island State Park

Palmetto Island State Park sits on the banks of the Vermillion River in Abbeville. The state park offers 95 camping sites that are available for RVs, a primitive campground and backcountry sites.

Cypremort Point State Park

According to its website, Cypremort Point State Park features a half-mile man-made beach, picnicking, fishing, water skiing, crabbing, sailing and windsurfing. The state park has 22 premium sites and five unimproved camping grounds.

Lake Bistineau State Park

The Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline features two boat launches, hiking and biking trails, cabins, fishing and playgrounds. The state park provides 17 premium locations and 44 unimproved campsites.

Jimmie Davis State Park

Jimmie Davis State Park sits on a peninsula on Caney Lake in Chatham. Visitors will have the option to stay overnight at one of the several cabins that are available, along with RV camping.

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park

According to their website, overnight visitors at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park can choose from two-bedroom waterfront cabins, lodges with loft bedrooms and RV camping.

St. Bernard State Park

The St. Bernard State Park in Braithwaite offers picnic tables, barbeque grills and a large, covered pavilion. It also includes 51 improved campsites that include water and electrical hookups, according to their website.

Sam Houston Jones State Park

Sam Houston Jones State Park provides several cabins for overnight visitors and camping grounds. The state park has 30 premium sites that come with sewer, water and 50-amp electrical hookups, according to their website.

Lake Bruin State Park

Visitors to Lake Bruin State Park can take advantage of freshwater fishing, water sports and outdoor living, according to their website. Camping options include 12 premium locations and 36 improved sites.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

Overnight visitors at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park will have the opportunity to stay in the campground or in lake-front cabins. The state park features parks and reserves, biking, boating, paddling and fishing.

Lake Claiborne State Park

Overnight visitors can take advantage of several accommodations at Lake Claiborne State Park in Homer, including two-bedroom cabins and an RV campground. According to the park’s website, the RV campground “rests along the slopes of the north Louisiana foothills.”

Chemin-A-Haut State Park

Chemin-A-Haut State Park in Bastrop features RV and tent camping, along with several cabins. The park has 26 premium sites and a primitive camping area.

South Toledo Bend State Park

South Toledo Bend State Park offers several outdoor recreational activities including hiking, cycling, birding and camping. The state park features five tent sites, 42 improved locations and 13 premium sites for overnight visitors.
