Several organizations are giving back to the El Paso community for the Thanksgiving holiday. Many groups will be giving away free turkeys and meals to help feed families who are having trouble putting food on the table this year.

We have compiled a list of the organizations that are helping out.

Salvation Army giving free Thanksgiving meals

The Salvation Army will be giving out free meals on Thanksgiving Day to any family who is in need with a community drive-thru event.

People will need to collect a ticket before the holiday in order to get the free meal. The tickets are available at the Salvation Army office, located at 4300 E. Paisano Drive, near the El Paso County Coliseum.

The meals will then be given out on Thurs., Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving Day) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Salvation Army is asking for the community’s help in order to make the event a success. The organization is asking for donations and for volunteers to help distribute the food.

Rescue Mission of El Paso preparing free meals

The Rescue Mission of El Paso is making sure people don’t go hungry during Thanksgiving. The organization will host its free annual holiday event on Thursday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free meals are open to the public. The Rescue Mission of El Paso is located at 221 N. Lee St. in Central El Paso.

Operation H.O.P.E. handing out free turkeys

Operation H.O.P.E will continue its tradition of giving back to the Borderland community during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The organization will host a drive-thru event on Sat., Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. and it will take place at 4800 McNutt Road, near the Sunland Park Sports Complex.

Families will be allowed to take home one turkey per vehicle. The turkeys will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Healing Place Church giving free turkeys

Community members will be able to pick up free turkeys on Sat., Nov. 18 at Franklin High School, located at 900 Resler Drive. Members of the Healing Place Church will give out free turkeys starting at 9 a.m. Only one turkey per vehicle will be given out. There are a limited number of turkeys, so the event will end once supplies run out.

Abundant Church food giveaway

Abundant Church will have a Thanksgiving food giveaway on Sun., Nov .19 at all three of its El Paso campuses. Tickets will be given away during services.
