Look: Snowstorm Hits Popular Destination in Australia

Opening weekend just wrapped up at Perisher, a popular Australian ski resort, but the snow is just starting to pick up in the Southern Hemisphere. With 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) that has already fallen and more on the way, patrons are rejoicing for more (and for more of the resort to open). The temps predicted for the week are below freezing at night but stay above the freezing point until later on this month.

Perisher is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere and is located in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. With an area of approximately 3,076 acres, there is still plenty to open up as the season gets going and the comments on this snow video announcement are calling for it. Perisher is composed of four interconnected resort areas: Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes, and Guthega. Each area offers its own unique charm and terrain, providing visitors with a diverse range of options to explore.
