'They look so happy': Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's pregnancy announcement delights commenters
It’s official! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in early spring. The news comes just five months after they got married on May 19.
Rumors about Meghan being pregnant have been circulating for months. At Princess Eugenie‘s wedding, social media exploded with speculation that the duchess could be pregnant after she appeared wearing a navy-colored coat dress by Givenchy.
Several Yahoo commenters noticed too. One wrote, “Congratulations Meghan and Harry, but I knew the other day when I noticed what she wore to Eugenia’s wedding.”
To say fans of the royal couple are excited is an understatement. So far there are more than 2,000 comments on the Yahoo Lifestyle story about the announcement.
An overwhelming number of comments are congratulatory and are happy for the couple. One person wrote, “A breathe of fresh air in this oh too dismal world we live in. Congratulations!!!” Someone else wrote, “They look so happy. The baby will be loved and have great parents. Congrats. Happy for them.”
One comment said, “They have both shown how much they love children. I hope they have several. Congrats to the happy couple.” It’s no secret that the royal couple are active in giving their time and public attention to children and their favorite charities. Even at their wedding, they asked attendees to donate to charities instead of giving gifts.
Some commenters did voice some worry for the couple who are on a 16-day tour of Australia that includes visits to New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga. One commented, “Why are they traveling overseas, are they not afraid of her catching the Zika virus[?].” After getting medical advice, the couple decided to go ahead with the tour.
The couple could have spilled the beans before Princess Eugenie’s wedding, but they waited until after the celebrations. One commenter wrote, “Congratulations! How wonderful they didn’t let it out until after Princess Eugenie’s wedding. They’ll be wonderful parents.”
