Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle has dropped the official uncensored trailer for his upcoming star-studded film, Babylon. The film features Brad Pitt as the titular character joined by Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Jean Smart.

Babylon is slated to be an American epic period comedy-drama set in 1920s Los Angeles. According to the official synopsis, the film is "A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood." Babylon is Chazelle's first fil msince his 2018 cinematic project First Man with Ryan Gosling. Chazelle has been known for his work on 2014's Whiplash and his 2016 Oscar-winning musical La La Land.

In the midst of the non-stop party and the rollicking jazz, the dialogue gives a glimpse of the roaring '20s through the eyes of the characters. Robbie can be heard saying in the trailer, "It's written in the stars: I am a star. If I had money, I would only spend it on things that were fun, you know? Not boring things like taxes. I just want for everyone to party forever." Pitt, who plays mega-star Jack Conrad proclaims, "You know what we have to do? We have to redefine the form, map those dreams and print them into history. Look up and say: 'Eureka! I am not alone.'" In a recent interview with Deadline, Chazelle said, "After the quietness of First Man, I wanted to do something boisterous and loud. Babylon was the biggest number of roles I have ever jungled. The casting process took a long, long time. Mostly a fictional film. All the characters are fictional but inspired by composites of real-life people."
