Look: Best Waves, Biggest Wipeouts of Spring 2023 at The Wedge

Summer season, in the northern hemisphere, is here.

The summer solstice (and longest day of the year) went down on June 21st, meaning the water’s getting warmer, the kids are out of school and crowding the lineups, and the south swell season is open for business in Southern California.

However, leading up to the official debut of summer, many south swell spots were already cranking – spots like The Wedge in Newport Beach.

It was a banger of a pre-season for southern California’s premier shorebreak surf spot. There were countless clips featuring heavy wipeouts, massive tubes, collisions, carnage, epic kick-outs and more leading up to the summer kick-off.

And now that summer is legitimately here, it’s time for a lookback.

The 11-minute clip above comes from longtime SoCal surf filmer, Beefs TV; the caption reads as such:
