As a supermodel, much of Bella Hadid’s day job means being a chameleon: she must adapt herself to any aesthetic—and not only pull it off, but nail it. When it comes to her personal look, then, she also can’t help but experiment with various trends and personas. Her love of dramatic change especially applies to the beauty realm. Hadid has been known to switch up her hairstyle as often as she does her shoes or bags.

Perhaps inspired by the many top artists she works with backstage at shows or on sets for shoots, Hadid has mastered the art of treating her locks as a blank canvas. One day, she’s sporting extra-long extensions that are done up in bouncy, bombshell-worthy curls. The next, she’s braved a severe chop in favor of a blunt bob. And she’s toyed with different colors, too: in Tokyo last year, she debuted neon pink streaks that made the case for a low-commitment, high-impact dye job. (They were either clip-ins, or temporary dye.) She’s also debuted an Instagram alter ego, named Bekka, who is basically Bella but in a golden blonde wig. Only time will tell if she’ll ever take the peroxide plunge in real life.

Some of her recurring hair signatures? She loves a ’90s-style claw clip; a recent outing saw her with an updo secured into place with an Alexander Wang accessory. This year, she was also spotted repeating a favorite hair move: clipping on some faux bangs. Taking the bang plunge without that ensuing regret afterwards? Not a bad idea.
