Colin Farrell was one of the best parts of The Batman. That’s why he’s getting his own spinoff series on Max, which was teased in a trailer for HBO’s upcoming line-up.

We only see a few seconds, but it’s enough to give us a glimpse at what to expect. Farrell plays Gotham gangster Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, otherwise known as The Penguin due to his rotund belly and ownership of club The Iceberg Lounge.

The show looks to be an origin story. At the start of the trailer, Cobblepot says, “This is one of those moments where you gotta ask yourself, ‘what do I want?’. It’s likely the show takes place before The Batman, and sets up The Penguin’s foundational motivations.

It's not the only thing coming to the platform. A superhero satire series from Sam Mendes has been ordered by HBO.
