Look Back ... to all things Munford, 1999

Mar. 8—March 8, 1949, in The Star: Thomas (Tommy) Craft, a junior at Anniston High School, has been elected a vice president of the 1950 Alabama Hi-Y convention to be held in Birmingham. He was also recently elected "Student of the Week" at the high school, which in part recognizes the distinguished role he plays in the local Hi-Y program; he'll be president of the George Neely Chapter next year.

March 8, 1999, in The Star: Life in Munford, Ala., revolves around family, farming and friends, but children and their schooling are the top priority. That's why in February, Munford residents agreed to pay higher property taxes for the next 18 years in order to raise part of the $5.5 million needed to build a new elementary school. The current one, where many of these residents spent their early school days, is old and in disrepair. In this day's edition of The Star, several more stories and photographs about Munford have been published, so that everyone can understand what makes Munford life special.
