Longest Sledding Hill In North America Opens At Hilariously Named Ski Resort

Hoedown Hill opened in Windsor, CO, (near Fort Collins) with ski and snowboarding trails, and what it lacks in size of skiable terrain, it makes up for with what it claims is "the longest sledding hill in all of North America."

Their social media post commemorating the occasion read, "The Grand Opening of Hoedown Hill was chock full of thigh-slappin’ happy good times! 🤠 In fact we couldn’t squeeze even half of it into this quick recap."

"The s’mores were deee-licious(!), and the drone show was a sight to behold! And for those who missed it, don’t fret! Hoedown Hill is a great time EVERY TIME! 🎉 So come on down, y’all!"

The hill has 12 acres of tubing, skiing and snowboarding. There are 10 tubing lanes and a nearly 1,200-foot-long run. Currently, they have 3 inches of snowpack.

But it looks like a darn good time, and I know plenty of people who show up to big-name resorts, take one or two runs, and head in for apres.

Why not condense everything and enjoy time with the fam, time with friends, and sled and ski all in the same afternoon?

Hoedown Hill takes life-is-one-nonstop-party to the next level.

Plus... bigger isn't always better. As is the case with snowblades!

On January 27th, Hoedown Hill had its grand opening, which, according to their website, was "a day-long celebration! We started with a ribbon cutting, a 'mayoral race' down the Bushwhacker, some live music, s’mores sponsored by Xfinity, and so much more! The night ended with an awesome drone show sponsored by Mountain Rentals!"

According to Fox31 Denver, Hoedown Hill has a 133-foot vertical drop. Hoedown Hill has four conveyor lifts and three of them are fully enclosed and enhanced with lights and audio.

Sounds fun!

Skiers who love sledding (it's not as far out as you would think, remember Saucerboy?) will have a field day.

Plus, not everyone is looking for intense vibes and competitive attitudes. Some people go to the mountain to, you know... have fun!

POWDER's own Matt Lorelli did a story a while back about "The Smallest Ski Areas In The US." With verticals under 200 feet, I think this one would make that list!

With A-Basin, Telluride, Vail, Beaver Creek, Purgatory, and Loveland on tap within the beautiful state of Colorado, there's a lot of steep and challenging terrain. So it makes sense that the latest ski hill to open caters to a different crowd: one looking for good vibes and relaxation.

We wish Hoedown Hill great success in their operations this winter!
