Longest Cat Resident at Iowa Animal Shelter Has the Most Adorable Meows

Playing the waiting game is never easy, but we can only imagine how difficult it is to wait for months in an animal shelter with no chances to go home. That's been the heartbreaking reality for one adoptable kitty named Gaia, though her friends at The Humane Society of Scott County hope to inspire someone to adopt her.

In an August 4 TikTok video, @hssc_iowa introduced their viewers to their longest feline resident. She chirped and meowed her way through the entire video, much to her viewers' delight.

OMG, Gaia is such a beautiful kitty! Her white and tabby coat is so eye-catching, though nothing is nearly as majestic as the way this feline queen meows. We're just as shocked as everyone else who can't believe why she was looked over for nearly a year.

"Her little squeaks are too cute," gushed commenter @momokatz7. "I hope she finds her forever home soon." Well, then, do we have some news for you: This cat's been adopted! On Tuesday, August 8, the Iowa animal shelter made the announcement in a comment on the video. It's a dream come true!

We wish all shelter pets could find happy endings like Gaia's, but shelters across the country are experiencing crisis after crisis. Many are running out of space to house animals, while others can't afford to pay enough staff members. Adopting a pet, fostering an animal, or even donating money or pet supplies can make a major difference for local shelters, so don't hesitate to find our how you can help. You might even meet your best friend along the way!
