So Long, Sansa Stark: Sophie Turner Lands New Leading Role in ‘Girl Who Fell from the Sky’

Sophie Turner’s days portraying Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones may be numbered, but the 21-year-old actress already has a badass leading role lined up in the upcoming survival film Girl Who Fell from the Sky.

Girl Who Fell from the Sky is based on Heidi W. Durrow’s fictional novel of the same name and will feature Turner as Juliane Koepcke, a high school senior who survives the 1971 LANSA (not to be confused with Sansa) Flight 508 plane crash and fights for her life in the Peruvian rain forest, according to Deadline.

The film will follow a similar format to Sandra Bullock’s Gravity, considering the bulk of the plot centers around the harrowing 11 days leading up to Koepcke’s rescue.

In addition to her starring role, Turner will also serve as an executive producer alongside director and fellow producer Stan Brooks (Perfect Sisters). A premiere date has not been released.

Sansa Stark versus Juliane Koepcke? Now that’s a duel we’d love to see.
