The Long-Awaited Stadium Goods Chicago Store Is Opening — Here’s What to Expect

Stadium Goods is expanding.

The sneaker and streetwear marketplace revealed today that it is opening a retail store in Chicago, a two-level location that takes up more than 6,000 square feet of real estate in the city’s Magnificent Mile shopping district. The new door, which is located at 60 East Walton Street, is slated to open on Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. ET.

In addition, Stadium Goods will open its intake center at 1719 North Damen Avenue on Sept. 21. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the consignment drop-off is by appointment only.

“Chicago has an incredible sneaker culture in its own right, beginning with the ‘Chicago’ Jordan 1 to being the hometown of contemporary sneaker design leaders like Kanye West and Virgil Abloh,” Stadium Goods co-founder and co-CEO John McPheters said in a statement. “Stadium Goods is built on a foundation of culture and community, and being a part of the Chicago community was a huge draw.”

The new door, which is highlighted by a second-floor gallery space for its top-tier collections, will feature the company’s selection of coveted sneakers and streetwear items. Stadium Goods believes having the ability to showcase its selection on the luxury-driven Magnificent Mile — which features the likes of MCM, Coach and several other renowned labels — solidifies its status as a premier destination within the sneaker and streetwear marketplace.

“By being on the Magnificent Mile, we’re in the company of some of the finest luxury brands in the world. The products we sell are luxury items for this generation, so we fit right in,” Stadium Goods co-founder and co-CEO Jed Stiller said in a statement. “We saw the opportunity to bring Stadium Goods’ model of a fully authentic aftermarket presented with luxury retail aesthetics to a city with a rich sneaker history.”

Stadium Goods announced its plans to open the Chicago location via Instagram in December 2019, with the intent on opening in spring 2020. (The opening, however, was delayed by the coronavirus.)
