The business owners who strive to make Augusta mellow are bringing a new restaurant to Columbia County.

Shawn and Katy Ledford have announced their plans to open a American-style tavern in Evans Towne Center, according to real-estate company Meybohm Commercial.

It's slated to open before Thanksgiving in a corner suite formerly occupied by Stay Social Tap and Table. The casual café and taproom closed at the end of 2022.

The Ledfords have operated Mellow Mushroom restaurants in Augusta and Evans since 2002.

The tavern, still publicly unnamed, will feature "a deliciously curated menu that blends classic favorites in an inviting and warm tavern environment designed for the whole family to enjoy," Meybohm Commercial said in a statement.

Live music will include "frequent acoustic performances by local artists."

The new restaurant will add to Evans Towne Center's growing commercial footprint, centered around the Columbia County Performing Arts Center.

Other footprints attracted the Ledfords' attention.

"There is so much growth around the PAC and park that we wanted to be in the center of it," Mr. Ledford said in a statement. "It’s one of the few places we’ve seen foot traffic in Columbia County, and it felt like the time to do something new. We can’t wait to roll out a new casual and fun dining option.”
