For children 10 and younger. Crafts, games, storybook-themed carnival games, bounce house, petting zoo and rubber duck race in the Town Run. Hosted by Shepherd University’s chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society. $5, sold at the event. All event proceeds go to Kappa Delta Pi and its effort to enhance reading among students and support the organization’s collaborations as educators. The club will collect used books for its fundraiser, Books and Balls. The students will donate the books to schools while studying abroad in Kenya this summer. The Chewsville Lions Club is selling Vidalia sweet onions. A 5-pound bag is $8 and a 10-pound bag is $16. Orders can be picked up from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9, and Friday, May 10, at Bethel United Methodist Church (Chewsville), 21006 Twin Springs Drive, Smithsburg.
