NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A local celebrity chef is sharing his passion with New Mexico inmates looking for a second chance. Chef Ruiz is leading the culinary training program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico. A spokesperson for NMCD said the program aims to provide vocational skills and opportunities for inmates to pursue a post-incarceration career in culinary arts. For inmates who want to participate, they must have a record of good conduct and have 18 months remaining until their release.
