Local artist will be featured in the 2025 Cooperative Calendar of Student Art

May 24—GREENSBURG — Decatur County REMC has announced that Eva Harrison, a second-grade student from St. Mary's, has been awarded first place in the 27th annual Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest.

Eva's artwork, created for the month of February, will be featured in the 2025 calendar. In addition to this honor, she will also receive $200.

"Youth play a significant role in shaping our present and future and we are proud to sponsor events to recognize and showcase them.", said Brett Abplanalp, CEO of Decatur County REMC.

The calendar contest is sponsored by Decatur County REMC along with Indiana's electric cooperatives and their statewide magazine, Indiana Connection. The contest began in 1998 to recognize and encourage student artists. In those 26 years, almost 99,000 pieces of art have been created and entered.

Artwork is judged on artistic merit, originality, creativity and its suitability for a wall calendar.

The art contest is open to any Indiana K-12 student.

The 2025 wall calendar, featuring Eva's winning piece along with other selected artworks, will be available at Decatur County REMC this fall.
