Loaded tea, smoothie bar in Gonzales offers free delivery, healthy drinks, sense of family

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – The owners of Sunflower Nutrition, a locally owned smoothie and tea bar, said they take pride in offering the Gonzales community healthy drink options.

Megan and Xavier Anderson Sr. co-own Sunflower Nutrition. Xavier is the CEO and handles most of the business decisions. Megan is the chief operating officer and handles daily operations.

Sunflower Nutrition has loaded teas and protein shakes. They offer free delivery and will customize orders to best suit their customers’ needs.

Megan said her favorite drink is the Girl Boss from their Pretty Protein line. She said it has some of her favorite flavors like watermelon, while still giving her a boost of energy. She said it includes collagen and protein and she always adds hydration or probiotics.

“As a busy mom of two, it is the perfect all-in-one drink to meet so many of my needs,” she said.

Xavier prefers protein shakes, and his current favorite is Caramel Cake. He said it is a good option for feeding the body the nutrients it needs after a workout and includes 24 grams of protein, fiber and vitamins.

“It’s a great option for people post-workout or if you’re looking to substitute a meal,” he said.

Megan and Xavier announced they were the new owners of Sunflower Nutrition at the end of March. They said the transition was almost seamless and it gave them the chance to meet the people who would become their future customers.

Their goal is to keep a sense of family in everything they achieve and stay connected to the people in the city they call home.

Being small business owners is not for everyone, they said. Something they learned while in this process was that anyone can do it as long as they are in a community like Gonzales that wants local businesses to thrive.
