From Cosmopolitan

Do you remember that phase of quarantine back in March when everyone was watching Tiger King and baking sourdough bread? I knew from the moment I watched the first episode that literally everyone and their mother would be dressing up as Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin come Halloween. And who wants to show up to a Halloween party wearing the same costume as five other people in the room? Definitely not me. That's why this year, I'm dressing up as the real star of the Netflix show: the tiger. BTW, this tiger makeup Halloween tutorial isn’t for the faint of heart. It involves glue, press-on jewels, contour, and lots of face paint.

But that's why I'm giving you a head start, so you can nail the look before October rolls around. If you’re up for the challenge, keep reading for all the tips, tricks, and products you’ll need to transform yourself into a ferocious feline.

Step 1: Apply foundation

You’ll need to cover up your eyebrows to make your look more realistic (sounds weird, but stay with me). Swipe a purple glue stick—like the one you used in elementary school—over your brow hairs and brush them upward with a spoolie. Wait a couple minutes for it to dry and lock it in with setting powder. Then, smooth a full-coverage foundation and concealer all over to even everything out.

Step 2: Add a contour and some highlight

Next, contour around your hairline, under your cheekbones, and down the sides of your nose to add structure to your look. Then highlight the center of your face (AKA the middle of your forehead and underneath your eyes) with a yellow shade that fits your skin tone.

Step 3: Fill in the tip of your nose

Use a fine-tip brush and black face paint to fill in the tip of your nose—this creates your tiger snout. Then draw a line down from the bottom of your nose up to your Cupid’s bow and fill in your top lip.

Step 4: Outline your nose

Using the same black face paint, draw a wavy line from the corner of your left eye to the corner of your mouth.

Step 5: Swipe on white eyeshadow

Sweep on white eyeshadow over your entire eye area. Then draw a super over-the-top cat eye with black eyeliner.

Step 6: Paint your stripes

Starting with your forehead, paint rough lines from the center of your face outward. Don’t worry about them being perfect—the shakier they are, the more realistic they look.

Step 7: Add on your spots

Between your lines, paint small spots around your face in a random pattern with a tightly packed brush. And have some fun with it!

Step 8: Paint on your whiskers

With black paint, draw little whiskers around the left side of your mouth. Then use a fine-tip brush and white paint to add small white whiskers above your upper lip.
