Margot Robbie was all smiles at the 2024 SAG Awards on February 24, wearing a Schiaparelli mini dress with a statement sash and a bold pink lip look to match. To achieve the perfect pink lipstick for the actress, makeup artist Pati Dubroff mixed two Chanel tinted lip balms, and we have the details on how you can create the look at home.

Dubroff broke down the full makeup look via Instagram, noting that she used “subtle washes of coral and pink for maximum impact” on Robbie’s eyes, cheeks, and lips. The monochromatic “pink everything” makeup look that Dubroff created included a custom lip color made by layering two Chanel Rouge Coco Baume lip balms, one in Flirty Coral and the other Miss Rose. Together, the effect is a warm pink lip that played into the dramatic pink detail on her gown, as well as the peachy shades on her cheeks and eyes (courtesy of the Roses Coquillage Powder Blush Duo and Les 4 Ombres Coral Treasure eyeshadow palette that are part of Chanel’s spring 2024 makeup collection).

Red carpet beauty looks usually incorporate long-wear lipsticks to last through the night, so we were pleasantly surprised to see Robbie in a comfortable, wearable lip color — one that’s a balm rather than a true pink lipstick. Chanel’s Rouge Coco Baume stands out because it’s highly buildable; a special feature that allowed Dubroff to use a tinted lip balm for the effect of a lipstick. The balm contains emollient squalane, olive oil, and jojoba esters to quench dry lips while tinting them in a subtly shiny color that goes from sheer to opaque with a few passes.
