You’ll Never Guess Which Royal Just Drove a Race Car

Every royal has their hobby (Skiing! Photography! Motorcycles!), and it seems Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, has just added another to her repertoire. The only issue? It makes her husband, former professional rugby player Mike Tindall, just a little bit nervous.

The 38-year-old royal, who also moonlights as an Olympian equestrian, just buckled up for an episode of the popular BBC America car show Top Gear with her husband. As it turns out, Zara took a cue from the show’s title and really kicked it up to top gear.

While both Mike, 40, and Zara took a spin in a Jaguar on the Top Gear track, Zara was the first to get started. She began her drive slow and steady, but Mike soon urged her to hurry it up. “Let’s go, come on! I’ve seen you drive faster to Waitrose!” he joked, referencing the popular U.K. supermarket chain.

He quickly ate his words though when Zara fully opened up the throttle and put the pedal to the medal at 98 mph. Mike’s reaction? He yelled, “This is where I clench my buttocks!” Classic.

Despite Zara’s speed, Mike was crowned champion of the competition because he completed the course faster. Zara, ever the supportive wife, awarded him with a congratulatory kiss.

Races and buttocks and congratulatory kisses? We’ll see what Gan Gan Queen Elizabeth has to say about all of this when the family gathers at Balmoral Castle for their annual summer vacation.
